American Historical Fiction

History is one of my favorite subjects… to learn and to teach! I feel sad when I hear mommas say their kids are bored with history. It is kind of boring if you read a big, musty textbook, but there are lots of ways to help history come alive. History is not just about some old guy who did something. No – history is the story of how God has worked in the lives of humanity from the beginning of time! How exciting is that!? That God has had His hand on the lives of men and women throughout time, and we get to learn about their stories!

One of my favorite ways to help History come alive to my kids is to read books that make the stories real and exciting. Not some boring recitation of some old guy’s accomplishments. So, since it’s What to Read Wednesday, I want to share a few of my favorite fiction books to make American History more exciting.

I am sure there are a whole bunch of great books I haven’t read, so please share with me your favorite historical fiction book in the comments! I love to find new great books to add to our history studies!
